The Walking Dead is an American horror, drama and post-apocalyptic fiction, developed for television by Frank Darabont and based on the comic book series. Apocalyptic fiction is concerned with the end of civilization due to any catastrophic events. Post – apocalyptic fiction is set in a world or civilization after such a disaster.
Began in 2003, The Walking Dead, is a monthly American comic book series published by Image comics, which created by the writer Robert Kirkman and artist Chalie Adlard. A television series was announced to be in production on august, 2009 and premiered on October 3, 2010 on AMC network with a 70-minute premiere episode. Stars of the series are Laurie Holden, Jeffrey Demunn, Steven Yeun and chandler Riggs. AMC has renewed the series for a second season of 13 episodes.

It is the story of the aftermath of a Zombie apocalypse, it follows the small group of survivors, the titular characters, traveling across the desolate US in search of a new home away from the shuffling hordes of the undead. In a zombie apocalypse, a widespread rise of Zombies hostile to human life engages in a general assault on civilization. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a sheriff’s deputy in King County, Georgia , before the zombie outbreak. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group’s desperation to survive pushes them to the very edge of sanity. At every turn they are faced with unspeakable horrors, both from the undead and the scattered remains of a struggling human populace.

As of December 5, 2010, 6 original episodes of The Walking Dead have aired, concluding the first season.
